View dashboard to see confirmed cases, deaths, and number of hospital beds in our area.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A Regional COVID-19 Dashboard has been launched that identifies the number of confirmed cases, deaths, and hospital beds across the greater Chattanooga region. The GIS (Geographic Information Systems) dashboard was created by UTC’s Interdisciplinary Geospatial Technology Lab (IGTLab) and is accessible via Thrive Regional Partnership’s website. This resource is designed to provide the general public and local decision makers with a simple access point for COVID-19 updates in our area.
“GIS technology has been essential to understanding and responding to a crisis like the COVID-19 pandemic.” says Charlie Mix, Director of UTC’s IGTLab. “By offering these tools, maps, and data in easy-to-use applications, we hope to equip leaders and citizens across the region with information necessary to mitigate the impact of this outbreak.”
Additional resources to support response efforts across greater Chattanooga region include:
Impact Planning Reports by county to equip leaders with necessary information about their most at-risk populations;
An interactive Social Vulnerability Application where health officials and civic leaders can understand which communities are least resilient to disease outbreaks;
An interactive Food Site Locator Map for families to locate their closest meal provider;
An interactive Internet Access Locator Map for digitally isolated students and families to find the nearest hotspot to connect to for school and work
The Interdisciplinary Geospatial Technology Lab (IGTLab) provides the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and the greater Chattanooga metropolitan region with leadership, expertise, and a platform for the successful integration of geospatial technologies and spatial thinking into academic instruction and problem solving. IGTLab staff provide consultation and project management services to UTC and the larger community. Contact Charles-Mix@utc.edu if you are interested in partnering with the IGTLab on your next geospatial project.
