Located just 45 minutes northwest of Chattanooga, Sequatchie County, and Dunlap, Tennessee is full of history, charm, and outdoor activities. While the pandemic has caused us to put much of our travel on hold, it has renewed our excitement to explore the wonderful communities of this region. This recently designed map of Dunlap, Tennessee has us planning our next day trip!

Dive into the culture of the Sequatchie Valley by exploring the 11 historical buildings and sites highlighted on the map, such as the Dunlap Coke Ovens (usually home to a great bluegrass festival pre-COVID), the Historic Pope Cemetery, and the Dunlap Mercantile founded in 1894.

Next, it’s time to get outside! Dunlap has some great outdoor recreation opportunities. Known as the Hang Gliding Capital of the East, you can take to the sky with Flying Camp Paragliding School. There are also multiple hiking and biking trails in Dunlap, such as the Coops Creek Greenway Trail and cycling routes designed by Bikeways of the Scenic South. If paddling is more your thing, don’t miss the Sequatchie River Blueway.

Hungry after all of that sightseeing? There are lots of great options to grab a bite to eat and a drink.  Grab a seat at the Cookie Jar Cafe - a favorite- or check out the other spots on the Dunlap map to support local businesses.

If you decide to travel to Dunlap during the pandemic, please do so safely. Pay attention to mask recommendations and practice social distancing. The team at Thrive Partnership Regional hopes that the newly designed map makes it easier to explore Dunlap, Tennessee, and Sequatchie County!
