FAQs

General
Thrive serves just over 1 million people in the tri-state greater Chattanooga region, which includes 16 counties in northeast Alabama, northwest Georgia, and southeast Tennessee.
Within this unique footprint are 76 rural, suburban and urban municipalities, with populations ranging from a town of 58 residents in Orme, Tennessee to 181,370 residents in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Among other considerations, Thrive’s footprint was developed based on workforce commuting patterns between counties and the two connected watersheds of the Tennessee and Conasauga Rivers.
Initiatives of Thrive are open to anyone who wants to make a difference in their community. Not sure where to get started? Come to a quarterly meeting of a regional network (such as the Freight Mobility Coalition or Natural Treasures Alliance) to get started.
Thrive has a diverse investor base of private, public, and philanthropic funders that believe in cultivating responsible growth for the success of our local communities and regional competitiveness.
The work of Thrive Regional Partnership originated in 2012 as Thrive 2055, first-of-its-kind, citizen-led, public-private planning endeavor launched in communities across the tri-state region of greater Chattanooga. This bold venture formed with a mission to “create an action plan that makes the most of economic opportunities while preserving what was most loved about our home communities.”
In 2016, the steering committee transitioned Thrive into an independent nonprofit organization to support communities across the tri-state implement the action plan for responsible growth.
