On August 10, join decision makers and business leaders across the tri-state region for Thrive Regional Partnership’s 2021 Freight Forum: The State of Truck Parking, presented by McKee Foods.

Truck parking has been identified by the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) as one of the top 10 logistics industry issues that affects operational efficiency and highway safety. 

In a world where households and businesses alike depend upon timely delivery of goods and services such as Amazon Prime, grocery drop-off, and other conveniences, truck parking is an unexpected crack in the supply chain from manufacturer to warehouse to doorstep.

To ensure rest for truck drivers and safety on interstates, federal legislation requires that a driver stops to take a 10-hour break following 11 hours of drive-time.  

The challenge is the limited availability of truck parking areas, forcing drivers to stop along already congested interstate shoulders, exit ramps, and other undesignated locations. 

Additionally, it takes valuable time to locate potential parking locations, resulting in delivery setbacks, delaying products to the end consumer. In a survey on the issue by ATRI, 40% of drivers report a daily productivity loss of 31-60 minutes, due to truck parking complications. Subsequent research reports an annual wage loss of $4,600 per driver, due to the same issue.

At the Freight Forum on August 10, Rebecca Brewster, President & COO of ATRI, will be presenting recent research and trends related to truck parking and how it directly impacts the tri-state region, which is a global hub for the logistics industry.
